The surgery of the family nurse is opening

 This is a home nursing service. It is not a hospital or a health centre, but a group of nurses who have “set themselves up” to help the people.

After Biandronno, “the family Nurse” is also starting in Gavirate. It is an innovative health and assistance service, which is available to all people who obtain an annual membership card for €15.56. Blood samples, bandaging, medications, drip-feeds, medical advice, the administration of therapies, injections, removal of stitches; these will all be included in the annual fee, but the more difficult interventions will be calculated separately, with a discount of 50% on the professional fees.

There are six professional nurses who will work shifts in the surgery, or make home visits; for a home visit, call Freephone 800 174 204.

The surgery is located in Piazza Besozzi 1, in the building that the council made available free of charge, even providing it with the necessary furniture.

It is open every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 9 to 11 am, and on Tuesday and Friday, from 4 to 6 pm.

The nurses are available 24 hours a day, including weekends, although any services provided after hours will cost €5 euro extra. Even non-residents can ask for a “nurse’s card”, at a cost of €31.

The service has been brought to Gavirate by the majority counsellor Graziella Broggini, after it was tried out in Biandronno. “In two months, we’ve managed to start it up,” she said with satisfaction. The opinion of Mayor Felice Paronelli, who thought it was an excellent opportunity that comes at a time when the council coffers are being put to the test by continuous cuts, was also positive. “We do nothing but ask the people for money and reduce the services available to them …”

The nurses are all registered professionals. In the future the initiative could also expand to other councils, provided the populations exceed 5000.
