Maroni and young entrepreneurs: “Put them in a position to work anywhere”

The President of the Region is wagering on the Lombardy model, “a virtuous synergy between the public and private sectors.”

Maroni incontra Beltraminelli a Bellinzona

“As I don’t think all young entrepreneurs in Lombardy want to flee the region, it’s clear that we have to put them in an optimal position to be able to work, also by encouraging a certain bond with the territory that still exists today, for example, by bringing ultra-broadband to the whole area, even to a village like Pedesina, in Sondrio Province, which has 39 inhabitants, but where a young person who wants to create a business there, without abandoning his native land, should be able to do so.

We’re working with the government to extend ultra-broadband, just as we’re working to create the necessary infrastructure. This is the commitment that we’ve undertaken and that we’re pursuing.”

This is what Roberto Maroni, the President of Lombardy Region, said  while speaking at a conference on “New Deals – The next 10 years”, organised by Confindustria Lombardia Sirmione (Brescia). The Regional Councillor for Economic Development, Mauro Parolini was also at the event.

ANTI-BUREAUCRACY ANGELS – “There are many initiatives that, as a Region, we have started in order to support businesses, and they work,” Maroni continued. “For example, there are the Anti-Bureaucracy Angels, young, recent graduates that we have made available to help entrepreneurs resolve problems related to administrative practices, allowing them to save time and to devote themselves to their businesses.”

LOMBARDY IS RESEARCH – “The most recent measure concerns the research and innovation sectors,” he added. “A few days ago, the first law produced by a Region, in relation to these areas, ‘Lombardy is research’, was approved. It provides a series of opportunities and contributions for businesses that intend to invest in innovation and research, which are not only the vocation of Lombardy, but also a genuine tool for competitiveness, especially for small and medium-sized companies.”

AGREEMENT FOR LOMBARDY – “The Human Technopole is not really going very well, because there’s a problem of resources that the government promised to make available, but that we still haven’t got,” said the President. “Here, too, I’m trying to fix the damage caused by central government, working with the government on the ‘agreement for Lombardy’, on the model of what has already been done for Milan, with an allocation of at least €10 million, to create also ‘Human Technopoles’, as well as a series of projects and interventions throughout the region.”

LOMBARDY MODEL – “The ‘Lombardy Model’, which I’m particularly proud of, is a virtuous synergy between the public and private sectors, together with the fundamental method of listening, which guides the actions of the region,” Maroni concluded.
