Santa Claus brings the Libreria del Corso back in town

La libreria del Corso torna per Natale

It is not a dream, this Christmas you can choose your books with Luca, Cristina and Luisa, the historical booksellers of Libreria del Corso that closed a few weeks ago.

This will happen thanks to the availability of the publisher Pietro Macchione, who will handle the supply and marketing of the books, and Flavia Broggini Magnoli, owner of Baseblu clothing store in Piazza della Podestà. She provided them with part of her store that will become a bookshop in one of its premises in the month of December.

“Did you see the chart concerning the quality of urban life, a few days ago? Varese is not doing so well and one of the worst rumours involves the shutting down of bookshops,” Pietro Macchione explained in this way his act: “In recent years there were so many shut down, the most unpleasant was the Libreria, of course. It was a real pain we decided to answer to, Flavia and I”.

“We want Varese to return to the awareness of culture,” commented Flavia Magnoli. “And I would also like the owners of the flats in Corso Matteotti to put a little sensibility to serve the city, allowing these people to continue working well as they have done so far”.

A good news and “a reply to consumers and to the city, that have shown us a lot of sorrow on the occasion of the announcement of the shut down,” booksellers said, “in particular, little touching messages that have been collecting since we announced it. It all started with a post-it and hundreds of them have followed.”

At the moment, it is a Christmas relaunch: the dream will vanish at the end of December or at least, at the end of the Christmas holidays. “We have already been in contact with Ubick, an interesting library chain which is working with us on this project,” explains Macchione. “We want to try taking back the book to the centre, in the inner city centre of Varese.”
