Ikea project, the Region says no
The Italian Northern League and the 5 Stars Movement support a motion which asks for the exit of the company from the agreement that allows the construction of a maxi commercial establishment in the area north of the city of Milan.

The Region of Lombardy has said no to the Program Agreement to build the Ikea store in the city of Cerro Maggiore. The Regional Council has approved today the motion thanks to the votes of the Northern League and the 5 Stars Movement, even though the Democratic Party has not taken part in the vote. This because, according to the democrats, with the exit of Rescaldina, the Program Agreement will be automatically revoked. The Regional Councillor for budget Massimo Garavaglia, claimed the impossibility for the junta to give its opinion as the Region will not take part to the agreement.
“It won the safeguard of the environment and the protection of our traders,” stated the vice president of the Lombardy Regional Council Fabrizio Cecchetti (Northern League) and the Councillor Carolina Toia (Maroni for President), after the approval of a motion which commits the Regional junta to exit the Program Agreement for the construction of a shopping centre in the city of Cerro Maggiore.
“This shopping establishment has never convinced us, and there are no reasons why we should do it now, especially after the exit of Rescaldina from the Program Agreement after the persistence of numerous and significant critical situations”, said the two Councillors. Situations that regarded in particular the part relating to the shopping centre of the Swedish furniture giant.
“The direction of the Region is finally clear,” claimed with satisfaction Stefano Buffagni, group leader of the 5 stars Movement in Lombardy. “Thanks to the 5 stars Movement, we are going to safeguard the small enterprises of the area instead of promoting the big distribution.” Now, if the multinational company will intend to proceed in the aim of realising a sales centre in the area north of Milano, they will have to restart the procedures with a new project that won’t involve the real issue, the shopping gallery.
