 This morning (27 November), in Malpensa, has been made official a news that was already in the air for some time. <\/span>An important financing for the realisation of the railway link between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 has been made available.<\/b> It will completely connect with all the trains, national and international, and the air terminal. <\/span>The route will be 3.4 km long with a cost of 115 millions of Euros, and it will introduce a future European large project<\/b>, that has to be financed, of connecting with Gallarate, and so with the rails which lead to Gotthard and Sempione, that will consider a new railway in the future.<\/span><\/p>\n

But let’s turn back to the project announced today: the link between T1 and T2. Sea will invest 16 million of Euros. The EU promised 23 million non repayable, the Region will invest 30 and the remainder come from the Government. The Sea President Pietro Modiano is confident<\/b>: "we will create a link between the current railway and a new station at T2, but the project is much bigger. It is the essential element that will connect us to the North, to Switzerland. It is the signal of our confidence in one of the crucial systems of our Country. Today I’ve been in Cargo City and since I’m from Milan I didn’t know about its existence. But here pass a part of the Italian freight traffic. The link between the two terminals is a point that makes<\/span> us proud. <\/span>There are 3.4 km but Europe will invest because it is a strategic action<\/span><\/b>, and it is this signal of hope that I want to underline." he said.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The council member of Infrastructures Maurizio Del Tenno<\/span><\/b> remembered that: "Malpensa will be the entryway of the Expo<\/b>. The Lombardy system has held its head high and looked beyond. The goal is to lead Malpensa to the group of large European airports. The extension of the current rail intersection <\/span>è<\/span> <\/span>a strong point. Few weeks ago the EU have financed the project and the Government have already written a formal employment letter to guarantee the financing."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The Lombardia president Roberto Maroni believes in it:<\/span><\/b> " I’m here to testify my interests and commitment about Malpensa, so that it can realise completely its vocation of international airport. Alitalia didn’t believe in this project and that brought negative consequences, but Malpensa has invested anyway. In the extension between T1 and T2 the Region paid 30 million of Euros. We have the obligation of Minister Lupi. And not only that. There is the promise of the Government also for Pedemontana if we want to talk about other infrastructures of Lombardy. The infrastructural system is essential and the Region must be competitive."<\/b> Maroni added: " It is my interest that  Sea will success, even if we’re not shareholders.
