Forseti opens: the taste of Information Technology for everyone.
This is a new non-profit association and its purpose is to convey to everyone the passion for technology and to share knowledge of security and of alternative software, taking all of this as a starting point for a new passion. This is what Forseti wants to be, the new non-profit organisation supported by Varese commune and that is going to be opened this Friday evening during an event at Ata Hotel.
Forseti is not the umpteenth incomprehensible abbreviation, but it is the name of the old Norse divinity of justice, peace and truth, the three values that (using the right proportions) the members of this association will try to convey with ten meetings during this year.
As one of the founders, Cristiano Colli, explains “We are a group of people aged between 30 and 40; after we had helped a lot of friends with this subject, we thought we could spread it in a more complete way by creating this association.” Trying to be more clear, Forseti will not be a group of “geeks”, but it will be just a group of lovers that are going to convey the philosophy that is the base of technological choices; “we want to explain new technologies in order to bring people near them, giving the instruments to choose them and to use them in the best way, without being caught up in fashion or fear.”
So, if it is not necessary to be a professional stylist to choose clothes, we should at least have preferences and an idea of our style. And this is equal also for the rich world of technology. “We hope we will have a heterogeneous group of members with different ages,” Colli explains, “we want to share with young people, because later they will spread the information on these subjects.”
After the free-entry opening evening, it is going to be also a free-entry “illustrative” evening. From 15th April the member-dedicated meetings members start. Among the discussed subjects there will be the Internet, freeware, Computer security, Web 2.0 and security for children on the Internet. The membership fee will be particularly low and discounts for old people, students, unemployed and disabled people are expected. Visit the official website to get more information, or attend the official opening on Friday the 12th at 8pm at Ata Hotel, via Albani.
