Today we open a new service in our newspaper. We are going to follow step by step the Pedemontana progress. This derives from an agreement with the society that is going to manage the roadworks of this important infrastructure. The reasons for this choice are different and we believe it is necessary that our readers know them.

Pedemontana highway is an artery. It is not just a road and it is normal that is as such. Building today a work of these dimensions in the territory that goes from Cassano Magnago to Dalmine (the layout here) has very different characteristics compared to those of fifty years ago. Every foot of soil removed from the environment is a hurt and it is a high price that Lombardy citizens must pay in order to keep their standard of living high.

Also for this reason there will be a series of actions aiming at “alleviating” the environmental impact. One of these is the green way construction, one of the country’s longest cycle track that will connect Varese to Bergamo.

All these decisions have been taken and now we get into the real action.

Varesenews will follow the works without any kind of conditioning. This is the basis of the deal that we have reached with Pademontana company, which proposed a collaboration. This is a courageous experiment, which will allow us to open a dialogue, facing also many criticisms that will appear during the progress of the work. This is an important experiment because it symbolises the importance of a third way. Besides the asphalt way and the green way, we represent the new communication era. Virtual, but very much attached to the territory and to innovation.

Varesenews will offer a service to all citizens and to the people involved. An interactive service where it will be possible for anyone to to give their opinion and to tackle the problems directly with the right interlocutors.

This is a sign of change, but also the sign of the chance to participate. We are aware that for many people this road is a further outrage against the environment. We are not hiding our heads heads in the sand and we understand these positions, but we also think that this is the time to solve real problems and to open up a dialogue. We are the guarantors.
