The world as seen through the eyes of young directors: “Documentamy” is starting
Documentaries and documentary films about music and musicians shot by young directors under 35 will be shown at Filmstudio ’90, from 13 to 16 November
Documentamy is starting, the contest that brings to the city four days of screenings with documentaries shot by young authors under 35. An out-and-out contest organized by Filmstudio ’90 in partnership with Associazione Cortisonici e Cooperativa Sociale Totem from Varese, with the decisive contribution of Fondazione Cariplo. It is meant to be a festival of short documentaries pointed towards young authors under 35, in the wider context of the project “GenerAzioni” and, for the next three years proposes a relaunch of the multi-purpose rooms Filmstudio ’90 and Cinema Teatro Nuovo of Varese. So, at the movie theatre in Via de Cristoforis it will be possible to take part in four evenings of screenings, from 13 to 16 November (free entrance). Nine documentaries will be presented, and they have been selected from about forty works arriving from Italy, but also from Poland and Argentina. All documentaries will be voted by a panel of judges but also by the audience in the theatre.
In addition to this, there will also be a “focus” on music. It will be possible to see three works of the section MusicaDoc: on Wednesday 13 Documentamy will be started by Sugar Man by Malik Bendjelloul, Oscar winner in 2013. Thursday 14 November, the whole night will be dedicated to the fans of heavy metal: from 11 pm will be shown “Anvil-The story of Anvil” by Sasha Gervasi, author of the recent “Hitchcock”. The third film of the section MusicaDoc is dedicated to the Clash and their leader, Joe Strummer. Friday 15 from 11 pm will be showed the documentary “The future is unwritten” by Julien Temple.
Furthermore, Saturday 16 November at the theatre “Filmstudio ‘90” in Via De Cristoforis, from 3.30 to 5.30 pm there will be a workshop with the director Alina Marazzi, open to the fans and professionals who want to know the poetry and the way of telling the reality of the director. Angelo Cimarosti
Co-founder of the website of Citizen Journalism YouReporter, and director of YouReporter News. He is a video journalist and makes his reports autonomously. Giampaolo Colletti
Journalist who deals with digital media and web communities. In 2004 he founded www.altratv.tv, which is an inter-university observatory on Italian micro web televisions. He worked for Rai 3 and Radio24 and now works for Nòva24. In 2010 he wrote "Tv fai-da-web" (TV, do it on Web) for Gruppo24Ore, with the preface by Luca de Biase and the introduction by Carlo Freccero. Since a few weeks ago, his book "Wwworkers" (Gruppo24Ore) is on sale New Web workers wwworkers.it .
Alina Marazzi
Film director who captured the attention of the critics and of an international public thanks to her first docu-film, "Un’ora sola ti vorrei" (I want you for an hour only), a sketch of her mother made by editing sequences filmed by her paternal grandfather. After being shown in Locarno for the video contest, the film received the special mention of the Jury and then the award for Best Documentary at Turin festival. After the success of this intimate and personal film, she shot "Vogliamo anche le rose" (We want also roses) in 2005, through which she remembers the story of women since the second half of the Sixties to the end of the Seventies. Then she made "Per sempre" (Forever), a spiritual documentary about monastic life. In 2012 she made a debut in full-length films with "Tutto parla di te" (Everything is about you) , in which she tells with sensitivity the complicated story of women who are up against happiness and sorrow of maternity.
Gilberto Squizzato
Journalist and film director, he started his television career in 1989, when Angelo Guglielmi offered him a collaboration as film creator and director with Rai 3, asking him to blend both his journalistic and cinematographic experiences, to test a new kind of television language, making narrative live-shot films. That is how the twelve episodes of "I racconti del 113" (the stories of 113) in 1989/90, which represented Rai in the TV Show in Bruxelles and "La guerra dell’acqua rossa" (The war of red water) in 1991, with which he took part in the Film Festival of Helsinki. In 2006 took place the shot of the eight episodes of Interset, through which Squizzato examine the virtual world of Internet, launching in Italy the formula of docufiction, which emerges then in the series "La frontiera nascosta" (The hidden frontier) and "Così vicino così lontano" (so near so far). Since 1999 he has been working on a Milanese trilogy, with which he launches the film category and the production model of real-movie. In 2004 Squizzato wrote and shot for Rai 3 "L’uomo dell’argine" (The man of the river bank), a four hour long film about Don Primo Mazzolari.
