Carnival 2013: celebrations start with parades and masks
The traditional appointment will open on Saturday 9th February with the delivery of the city keys to Re Bosino. On Saturday 16th, a great parade in the streets
Saturday 9th February 2013 Bosino Carnival opens. In the city, the traditional event comes back, with masks and floats. The celebration is organised by Famiglia Bosina (Varese Cultural Association), in collaboration with the Municipality and the Province. Culture council member, Simone Longhini, this morning, Monday 4th February, presented the whole programme at Palazzo Estense. Beside him, Varese traditional masks: Re Bosino (Natale Gorini) and Pin Girometta (Loris Baraldi). The ceremony will start on Saturday, 9th February, with the delivery of the city keys to Re Bosino by the Mayor. He will “guide” the city all week long, until the events end, in the evening of 16th February, after the large parade in the streets of the city.
Therefore, it will be a week full of events, starting with tradition and entertainment, with a programme created, above all, for children. Council member Longhini explains: "I’d like to present two aspects: first of all we didn’t want to renounce to celebration and amusement for children. However, we reduced the allocation for the organisation by 20%. Valuing local traditions is also important. The Carnival attracts many people even coming from Varese surroundings and we believe it is a celebration that should be kept alive."
According to Carnival city tradition, Cicita Sottocasa Barlocc, Famiglia Bosina representative, in detail explains 2013 Carnival programme. “Celebrations will open on Saturday 9th February, with a ceremony at Palazzo Estense in Sala Matrimoni (wedding room), starting from 3:30 pm. Before, at 3 pm, there will be the historic parade from F.N.M. (North Italy public transport company) train station to Palazzo Estense, with Re Bosino and the authorities. We invite all to take part in this event and to the other events, which are programmed all week long."
According to municipality decree, there is only one prohibition: sell, detention and use of shaving foam spray.
