Italian government rejects Ministries in the North

The Monti government has definitively rejected the proposal to move the Ministries of Reforms, Simplifications, Tourism and the Economy to the North, to Villa Reale, in Monza (see photo), which was sought by the Berlusconi government. The government led by Mario Monti has also withdrawn the appeal made by the former government, with Berlusconi-Bossi, against the Labour Court decision, which had blocked the transfer of employees to the new ministries because of the lack of trade union agreements on the matter.

This was announced, during the opening of the show Ballarò, by the television presenter Giovanni Floris, who explained that he had received the confirmation from the government. “We know that Monti has said no to the Olympic Games in Rome, but now he has also said no to ministries in the North,” Floris said during the show. “You will probably remember that, in October, the judge of the Labour Court in Rome decided against transferring three ministries to Monza, and the Berlusconi government had appealed. Last Tuesday, we showed a report that said that the Monti government hadn’t withdrawn the appeal. We received a call today from the Cabinet Office, who said that they’ve decided not to appeal against the decision of the court in Rome.”
