America according to Wim Wenders

In Italy’s temple of American art, an exhibition of the photographic work of the German film director. At Villa Panza, from January 16.

Wim Wenders’s photographic archive contains a great number of snapshots, taken during his business and pleasure trips around the world. They show unusual places that caught his attention and aroused his the curiosity.

Throughout his life, the German director, who is famous for such works as The State of Things, Paris, Texas and Wings of Desire, maintained his passions for cinema and photography.

Villa Panza, in Varese, is putting on an exhibition dedicated to him, from 16 January to 29 March 2015, with photos taken, between the end of the 1970s and 2003, in the land so beloved by Count Panza, America.

The thirty-four photos selection portray landscapes, environments, architecture and roads captured by Wenders’s lens.

 The photographic works, some of which are large, are set out chronologically and according to themes, and make references to the American works present in this incredible, evocative exhibition venue.

The exhibition has been organised by Anna Bernardini. And the film director himself will be present at the presentation of the exhibition.
