Little Nicolò is also among the protagonists of the 2015 Telethon

There is also Nicolò among the protagonists of the traditional Telethon in support of research into genetic diseases. The 5-year-old from Cardano al Campo is affected by an extremely rare chromosomal disease.

“Nicolò’s disease doesn’t even have a name,” said his mother, Elena, who also has two other children. “I contacted Telethon more than a year ago. Last year, we took part in the television marathon, and this year, they’ve asked us to participate in the video ‘Adotta il futuro, regala una speranza a queste famiglie’ (Adopt the future, give hope to these families).”

The Telethon and the fund-raising will go on until 20 December. On 19th and 20th, there will be volunteers present in many Italian piazzas, raising awareness and asking for help for the research.

In Cardano al Campo, Elena has worked to promote a stand outside the “Munari” Kindergarten on the 16, 17 and 18 December, in the afternoon, to sell chocolate hearts. On 19 and 20 December, she will be in Piazza Mazzini, with the Telethon gazebo.

“It’s difficult,” Elena explained. “Every day, you see situations that are even more difficult than yours. Every day, I’m thankful that my son is happy and joyful and that he can walk. I’d appeal to everyone to donate even a small sum, €1 could make all the difference.”
