In Maccagno, there are cars available to “everyone”, in the car sharing scheme

The new point will have two parking spaces reserved, where there will be two endothermic vehicles, with a low environmental impact.

On Saturday, December 8, the new Car Sharing Point was inaugurated, in the gardens beside Maccagno Town Hall. The Mayor, Fabio Passera, and his council group were present, as well as Giovanni Alberio, who is in charge of institutional relations for the company SEMS. The new intermodal point in Maccagno will have two parking spaces reserved in Via Mazzini, where two endothermic cars, with a low environmental impact will be put, each with 4 seats and air conditioning. This new stage of the “e-vai” Car Sharing Scheme, which is being promoted by Lombardy Region and realised by Trenord in collaboration with SEMS, which is part of the FNM Group, and which provides services for sustainable mobility, is proof of the constant growth of the service, and of the increasing demand for means of transport that are an alternative to the private car. No fewer than 10,000 people have already joined the “e-vai” Car Sharing Scheme, with an average of 500 new members every month; since January 2012, there have been 6000 rentals, three times more than the whole of last year.

The “e-vai points” in Lombardy – With Maccagno, there are now 31 “e-vai points” in Lombardy. There are SEMS car sharing points operating, in conjunction with the regional service, already in the stations of Milano Cadorna and Milano Bovisa, Varese FN, Como Lago FN, Pavia, Legnano, Lodi, Cremona and Magenta. Other “e-vai points” can be found at the airports of Malpensa and Linate and in the towns of Erba, Travedona Monate, Cuggiono, Casalmaiocco and, now, Maccagno.

The service in Maccagno – The service will be available every day, 24 hours a day. For the low-emission cars that will be available in Maccagno, the cost will be €2.40 per hour plus €0.48 per km. The “e-vai” vehicles will be parked in the spaces in Via Mazzini.

Instructions on how to use the “e-vai” scheme – Anyone can join “e-vai”, irrespective of whether you have a season ticket with the Lombard train service. To become a member, just go to the site www.e-vai.com and follow the indications. Depending on your requirements, you will be possible to join in one of two ways. Silver is the ideal solution for anyone that only occasionally needs to use the service, it has no registration fee, and it includes an initial two-hour rental, free of charge. Payments can only be made by credit card, and an additional €5 is added to the cost of each rental. Gold is the most convenient solution for those who use the service frequently. You can pay for the rental by credit card, cash point card, in cash or by bank transfer, with a pre-payment of €100. The Gold solution has no additional cost for individual rentals, and also includes an initial two-hour rental, free of charge.

The cars can be reserved by phone, on the toll-free number 800 500 055, or by visiting the website www.e-vai.com.

For all new members, there is a free first rental (of up to a maximum of two hours), which must be done by 31 December 2012. Finally, for anyone who decides to become a Gold member before the end of the year, the €100 paid as a membership fee will be converted into credit that can be used on future rentals.
