This year the “recycling day” takes place in the town centre

The commitment for the "European Week for the reduction of garbage", which will take place from the 22nd to the 29th of November has been reassured. A continental event at its fifth edition, which this year, 2014, will be dedicated to the reduction of food waste. An edition packed with interesting news, which was presented this morning.

The challenge, accepted also in Varese in the past years, has been endorsed also by Varese Province, Varese Municipality, Aspem and Legambiente, this year. In 2014 there will be some more partners, such as Istituto Alberghiero De Filippi, Arteatro Varese, Folkantasia and Fondazione Rainoldi, which are supporting the event producing an increase in the number of initiatives, which won’t be limited to the "Recycling Day", but will continue from the 22nd to the 29th of November 2014.

The fifth edition of the "Recycling Day" takes place on the 29th of November, in its usual and tried-and-tested version on the road; after the first tests in the suburban quarters, this year will take place in the streets of the town centre and precisely in Via Rainoldi, where Legambiente have their headquarters.

This is the well-filled agenda for the "Recycling Day":
From 8 am to 10 am those who live in the roads and squares Adamoli, Arconati, Cairoli (in the section from Via Garibaldi to Via Carcano), Carcano, Cavour, Comp, Dandolo, De Cristoforis, Della Valle, Frasconi, Garibaldi, Largo Resistenza, Luini, Madonnina in Prato, Milano, Nicolini, Rainoldi, Sabotino, Sonzini, Speroni, XXI Maggio, can display objects, in good/great condition on the pavement outside of their houses and anybody will have the  possibility to collect them, to give them a new life, between 10 am and 1:30 pm.

For large objects, citizens will have the possibility to hang a transfer availability notice, with photos and telephone number, outside their houses, without exhibiting them directly.

What will be still on display at 1:30 pm, will be collected by the organisers and taken to Via Rainoldi, 14, the headquarters of Legambiente, where those who do not live in the town centre will bring and collect objects in good/great condition in the following ways:

•   from 8 am to 10 am delivery by car (Via Rainoldi will be accessible only for loading and unloading)

•   from 10 am to 5 pm only delivering and collection on foot.

Objects that can be displayed/collected in Via Rainoldi, here are some examples:
pieces of furniture – chairs – shelf units – beds – mattresses – vinyl records – chandeliers – tables – baskets – small cages – toys – pots – demijohns – frames – armchairs – cushions – beach umbrellas – clothes – textiles (ex. Tablecloths) – books – collections – comics – CDs – sport equipment – various objects which need to be in good/great condition and be small/medium sized.

Objects that cannot be displayed/brought in via Rainoldi:
Small/medium size objects not in good/great condition;
Large size objects, such that they do not fit in a vehicle, which can be exchanged through the bill posting of notices and photos;
Garbage collected door to door (paper and cardboard – glass – plastic – wet waste – dry/mixed waste);
Jars – tins of paint – batteries for vehicles – mineral oils – eternit – hazardous garbage in general.

The event will take place in case of bad weather, anyway. In case of rain, the inhabitants of the area, instead of displaying objects outside their houses, will be able to take the objects to Legambiente Headquarter in Via Rainoldi, 14, where the exhibition will take place indoors.

A DAYTIME OF EVENTS

Saturday 29^th won’t be only the “Recycling Day”: in via Rainoldi 14, events for young and old will be also perform for all the day in the name of “the best garbage is the one you don’t produce.” In particular: from 11am to 4pm there will be Show Cooking of Instituto Alberghiero De Filippi, with cooking and tasting of tasty courses made at the moment, from potential wastes and remains. From 2pm to 5pm will take place the workshop of creative recycling for children 4-12 years “Tutti a tavola!” by Centro Remida Varese, which is realised thanks to the subsidy of Aspem. At 3pm there will be the tasting of tea brulè, on condition that you will bring your own glass: as a tribute to the essence of the event, indeed, there won’t be glasses, citizens should bring these from their homes. In closing, from 3pm to 5pm you can dance with the folk group Folkantasia.

THE RECYCLING “PARTIES” FOR A WEEK

As anticipated, the European week starts long before than the Recycling Day: it starts, indeed, Saturday 22^nd November 2014 at 3pm at Chiostro di Volterre with the première by Betty and Chicco Colombo of “Tubo, Filo, Rocchettaro” a performance for children from 4 to 12 years, that is suggestive and offered by Arteatro Varese. After that, children could take part of a workshop about creative recycling of wasted materials inside of Centro Remida Varese. Entry is free, but places are limited (there are maximum 40 available seats). Booking is necessary, send an email to remida.varese@gmail.com with the object “Booking for performance European week garbage reduction.”

During the week, two original gastronomical themed events, which are called “Glib avanzi in cucina: creativity Ai fornelli” will take place at Instituto Alberghiero De Filippi in via Brambilla 15 in Varese. On Tuesday 25^th and on Friday 28^th 2014, the members will have the opportunity to experiment creative and tasty recipes, side by side of chefs of Istituto Alberghiero, who are able to make tantalizing the remains of the kitchen too. Cooking will come first than tasting of made courses or there will be the option of taking away. The inscription is necessary: to book is need to phone 0332238004, from 8am to 1pm, within 22^nd November (there are maximum 20 available seats per evening). The cost of participation is €10 per evening and during the evenings they will make different courses: because of this it is worth the effort in having the “full package.”
