Record of unemployed people in October: almost three million

The number of jobless people goes on rising. Youth unemployment has reached 36.5 %. And the number of temporary employment is growing.

Unemployment has reached record levels in October. According to the data published by CSI the number of unemployed people has grown reaching 2 million 870 thousand, registering a 3.3% growth compared with September (+93 thousand units). This year it has been registered a 28.9% growth of unemployment (+644 thousand units).

The summary of CSI research
In October the number of employed people is 22 million 930 thousand, stable compared with the data of September. On an annual base they registered a 0.2% decrease (-45 thousand units). The employment rate is 56.9%, acquiring 0.1 percentage points in the short-term comparison, stable compared with the one of the previous twelve months.

The number of unemployed people, which is 2 million 870 thousand, is rising 3.3% compared with September (+93 thousand units). The growth of unemployment concerns both men and women. On annual base it has been registered a 28.9% growth (+644 thousand units). The unemployment rate is 11.1%, rising of 0.3 percentage points compared with September and of 2.3 points in the year.

People between 15 and 24 who are looking for a job are 639 thousand and they represent 10.6% of the population in this age range. The unemployment rate of people between 15 and 24, i.e. the incidence of unemployed people on the total of employed people or those who are now looking for a job, is 36.5%, growing by 0.6 percentage points compared with the previous month and of 5.8 points in the trend  comparison.

The number of jobless people between 15 and 24 is decreasing by 0.7% compared with the previous month (-95 thousand units). The unemployment rate is 36.0 %, decreasing by 0.2 percentage points in short-term terms and of 1.5 points on annual base.

Three-month data: temporary employees are constantly rising.
In the third three-month period of 2012, full time workers are strongly dropping (-2.0%, which is -398,000 units compared with the same period of the previous year). The result reflects above all the drop of permanent workers (-2.7% which is -347,000 units), especially in building and public administration sector.

From the first three-month period of 2010 the number of part-time worker goes on rising, and in the third three-month period of 2012 shows an increase of 11.6% (+401 thousand units) on annual base. The growth involves the male employed workplaces and, in absolute values, above all the female one; in three cases out of four it is about involuntary part-time, i.e. about jobs accepted in lack of occasions of full-time jobs.

The number of temporary employees goes on growing (+3.5%, which is 83 thousand units), but only in part-time positions. About half of the temporary work growth concerns young people who are younger than 35 years and characterizes above all trade, hotels and catering. The incidence of temporary employees on the total number of employed people grows till 10.7%. the rise number of collaborators is meaningful (+11.6%, which is 45 thousand units), concentrated on services for enterprises and on social services.
