Sleeping in the airport? From a start-up to a revolution

The inventors of ZZZleepandgo are three young citizens from Varese. This start-up wants to fit the airports all over the world with a solution to let travellers relax in a complete privacy and comfort. “The first 12 units are ready to be installed.”

Everything started during a trip to Berlin: a delay at the airport and a night spent camping in a crowded waiting room. This is how Alberto Porzio and Matteo Destantini came up with the idea of Zzzleepandgo. “With all the delays and the long waits, a situation that thousands of travellers are exposed to every day is unendurable, so we started to think of what to do” said the citizen of Vergiate, Alberto Porzio. Some weeks after, we came up with the idea that led, within a year, to the birth of the young start up, which now aims at revolutionizing the habits of travellers. “We called another friend of ours, Nicolas Montonati, and we started to project the modular units Zzzleepandgo.” These are bedrooms of 3 square meters fitted with power sockets for phones, an internal tablet, wifi connection but, above all, “these are places where the customers can rest in total privacy.”

Then the idea came true. “We spent last summer building a first homemade prototype, in order to show it and to find out investors, and in the meantime we explained our idea” they said. It has been appreciated, and a lot. The group of very young people has received a first contribution from Univa, which has let them enter the incubator of start-ups at Liuc.

This is a cheap solution (maximum 8 Euros per hour), which, in spite of the bureaucratic obstacles, could become popular in the airports in a very short time. “The first batch of 12 cabins is ready to be produced” but first, the contracts with the airports have to be signed, and Malpensa comes first. “Now we are doing the last step here and in some other airports and our goal is to inaugurate the first modular units during Expo” they announced.
