Man kills his wife during their honeymoon

In Cardano al Campo, the preventive detention by the Carabinieri has been validated. According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the 51-year-old Korean pushed his wife out of the window after a week of continuous fighting.

The charges against the 51-year-old Korean, who was arrested on Thursday night accused with wilful murder, have become more serious. The investigating magistrate has confirmed the preventive detention, and a number of disturbing details have emerged from testimonies. The man and his 46-year-old wife were on their honeymoon and had been in Italy for a number of days. They had just got married, and had booked a tour guide, together with some fellow Koreans, who were not part of their group.

The guide informed the investigators that, last week, during the Italian part of the tour, the couple had fought often and hard. On 18 May, the other Koreans in the group flew home, but the couple asked the guide to book them a hotel near Malpensa, because they wanted to stay another two days.

On Wednesday, the couple left the Ibis Hotel during the day, and, when they came back, they were drunk, some witnesses say. There were three young women in the room next to theirs, who, by chance, were also Korean. The three women clearly heard shouting and the words of a nasty fight. One of them looked out of the window, at about 10.30 p.m. and saw that the woman was hanging on the outside of the window and was about to fall. The young woman, who had been drawn by the screams, said she saw the arms of a man push her to make her fall.

The 46-year-old fell to the car park below, knocking her head on the ground, and died on the spot. Upon hearing the shouting, the guests of the adjacent rooms called the reception, and the Ibis Hotel staff soon arrived. Inside the couple’s room, they saw a lot of beer bottles everywhere, and the husband sleeping (or pretending to sleep) in the bed.

The man was questioned for several hours, but denied pushing his wife from the windows; instead he claimed that his drunk wife had done everything by herself, and that she had probably fallen because of her drunken state and because she could no longer control herself. He claimed that he had gone to bed and passed out. The investigation has been given to the Public Prosecutors Cardellicchio and D’Amico, of the Busto Arsizio office, with the Carabinieri of Gallarate and Varese.
