The new Province is getting to work

The first act of the new provincial council took place at Villa Recalcati in the evening of Tuesday 28^th October. This was an innovation in many ways but most of all because it was the first session of a new council, which was rearranged by the reform of the provincial authorities and renovated by the result of the indirect elections, which involved the municipal administrators of the province of Varese. At a first moment, almost entirely formal, when the president Gunnar Vincenzi formalized his charge upon oath and showed the guidelines of the mandate, which he was appointed to hold.

“Autumn has finished and now Spring is beginning again,” it’s with these words that the new president of the Province of Varese opened the council, wishing a new role for the represented authority. “This new province will open other planning places, will work for the integration among and with the districts and will be a proactive interlocutor with the higher authorities. We will operate in cooperation and we would not propose again a past of decisions and reasonings made behind closed doors.”

THE PROGRAMMATIC LINES

The innovative mandate, which the counsellors were appointed to hold, arrived even in the interventions of other counsellors, positively and negatively. For example, it was scornful for the counsellor Giuseppe Lenghini, supporter of Lega Nord, according to whom “the result which lead up to the election of the new council is like that because PD did not respect the democracy changing the rules of the game when the game has already started and because the left has become the majority thanks to a minor party of the centre-right. For this reason I announce our irremovable opposition in this Council remembering that however the past administration lead the Province to be one of the best models of this country.”

The counsellor PD Paolo Bertocchi has a different opinion and he emphasized the opportunities, which are given by the new authority, “it’s true that we have been elected through an indirect election, but we have to remember that we are here because we gained the confidence of our communities and we have to work hard to give answers to these communities. This authority has real responsibilities on the acts which interest the almost 900,000 citizens of the Province of Varese and it is our duty to them to use all our efforts building the new Province all together, also with a confrontation among the lineups.”

An auspicious comparison, also by the counsellor of Forza Italia Piero Galparoli, who however opened the session asking for the incompatibility to the role of counsellor of Marco Magrini, who is already mayor of Cassano Valcubia, because he is the executive of ASL. The same Magrini refuted explaining to retain that his role at ASL is not assimilable to those indicated by the rule as incompatible with the charge of counsellor, but to wait  for further normative depth-analysis about this matter. However the council approved his election. The majority announced the nomination of George Ginelli, who is already the mayor of Jerago con Orago, to the charge of vice-president.
