Pedemontana, from 1st December everybody will pay

On 1st December, everybody, absolutely everybody, will start paying to use the Pedemontana. In fact, the period of free transits that during November accompanied those that had activated “conto targa” has finished.
However, from Tuesday, 1^st December, the payment begins for everybody: those who are not registered on the website will continue to pay as from 1^st October, whereas the people who until now have not paid a cent, will have to put their hands into their pockets. However, at least for now, the toll of Pedemontana will not be too expensive. People who will register, or have already registered, will have reductions of 50% until the end of January, compared to the full rate of all the three sections of the motorway.

This news will lead many drivers to choose the previous roads and, although Pedemontana has not released the data on transits yet, there has already been registered a considerable increase of traffic on the usual drivability. Giuseppe Licata, the mayor of Lozza, officially communicated this with a letter that he sent to Rome and Milan, in order to inform the Ministry of Transport and the regional government that now the traffic on the main road, which is next to the orbital road of Varese, has gone back to the levels prior to its construction.
