Amma also embraces Franco Battiato

Franco Battiato was also among the sea of people who visited MalpensaFiere to receive an embrace from Amma. Battiato showed up unexpectedly, to meet the Indian spiritual leader, who attracted thousands of people to the exhibition centre in Busto Arsizio over the weekend.

The Maestro, who had never met Amma, brought her a crown of flowers, and talked with her on stage, before receiving the first embrace of the night. The presence of Battiato was warmly welcomed by the many people who were waiting their turn in the pavilions of MalpensaFiere, although clearly moved by the experience, Battiato refused to make a statement. But he did stay at the exhibition centre for a long time, finding out about the activities that Embracing the World, the charitable association founded by Amma, is carrying out throughout the world.

And from today, these activities also include support for Busto Arsizio council’s employment fund. The organisation has decided to support the town that, for three years, has hosted the only Italian leg of Amma’s world tour, choosing the fund Rete per il lavoro (Network for employment) as the project to invest in.

It was a moved Gigi Farioli who received a large cheque of €5000 directly from Amma; the money will go to support socially useful workers who, while waiting for a job, provide service to the council and to the commercial district (they also managed the car park this weekend, ed.). Before being embraced, the Mayor thanked everyone present, and stressed that “At this time of great conflicts, this woman has managed to turn MalpensaFiere into the capital city of spirituality for three days.”

At the moment, however, it is not possible to say how many people came to MalpensaFiere, or how many were embraced. Last year, there were 25,000 and this year, going by first impressions, the number will certainly not be lower. Also because Amma, who also met the Indian ambassador, Basant K. Gupta, in these days, continued to embrace everyone throughout Sunday night. And only when the last to arrive has also received her embrace will she get back into her camper to set off for London, the last leg of her European Tour.
