Police Commissioner: “Our most significant emergency is home burglaries”

In the beautiful surroundings of Ville Ponti, the State Police Force is celebrating its anniversary. The Police Commissioner of Varese, Attilio Ingrassia, described their work.

The first point that the Police Commissioner wanted to make was that Varese Province is a very tempting area for predatory crimes, by criminals, who are attracted by the wealth. The State Police are in the front line against what the Police Commissioner called the most significant emergency for public order in Varese Province. Home burglaries, in particular, are the crimes that people most fear, and the Police Commissioner gave assurances over the Police Force’s strong commitment to fight them.

The crimes that are on the increase include fraud, particularly via the Internet, and malicious injury and beatings, whereas there has been a considerable drop in complaints of stalking and persecution. Drug trafficking has been reduced and targeted measures to stop illegal immigration and those who exploit and encourage all of these phenomena have been implemented.

Certificates of Merit for the last two years of work have been given out, and all of the specific data has been presented in a brochure. The trend of the previous years is expected to continue.
