A car race took place on the A9 motorway: very pricey fines and cars confiscated
A group of English people, who were visiting Italy, put on a show with high-powered cars causing an accident.
They were visiting Italy driving Lamborghinis, Bmws, Audis and to kill time they had a car race causing an accident on the A9 motorway.
The police arrived, questioned some witnesses and it was uncovered the Grand Prix among commuters, families and usual travelers that saw racing cars speeding, overtaking at full speed.
THE EVENTS – May, 24th at 12:00, the highway patrolmen of Como intervened on the A9 motorway, just before the toll booth of northbound Grandate, as a road accident that involved a foreign high-powered car (Audi rs6) which, shortly before, was signaled by some people that saw it racing with another foreign car, occurred. They were crazy manoeuvres: they sped over the limit and overtook on the right.
While investigating the crash site, the policemen took other witness statements on the illegal conduct of those vehicles of which one, after the accident, with lightly wounded people, could no longer circulate, while the other one stayed.
THE TOUR OF ITALY – Policemen reconstructed what happened. They also got to know that those vehicles were part of a group of 8/10 British national high-powered vehicles (Lamborghini-Bmw-Audi), that were going on a tour of Europe.
The immediate inspections by the highway patrol, which lasted until night, enabled them locate the place where the drivers of those cars spent the night in the province of Como, succeeding in track down also the second car involved in the event.
VERY PRICEY FINES – All the drivers of the group were identified, whereas the two drivers that raced at full speed causing the road accident were reported to the judicial authority for the breach of Article 9b of the Traffic Code which considers the detention from six months to a year and a fine from 5,000 to 20,000 euros.
The two vehicles used to race at full speed were taken away to be subsequently confiscated. The drivers had their driving license revoked as a suspension period up to two years is considered.
Investigations to verify other illegal conducts of the drivers of the aforementioned vehicles are ongoing.
