CIPE approve the plan for disposal of earth in the Arcisate-Stabio area

CIPE have approved the plan, which, once and for all, resolves the problem of the earth and rocks dug up to build the rail link between Arcisate and Stabio.

The project entails re-environmentalising two areas near the railway (the CSfb02 site, located in Arcisate, and the former-Femar quarry, in Viggiù), which will take any of the excess soil dug up.

This is what has been announced by the Regional Councillor for Infrastructure and Mobility, Alberto Cavalli, who took part in the meeting of the Interdepartmental Committee for Economic Planning, in Rome. “I’ve personally asked the Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, not only for the work to restart as soon as possible, but for it to proceed quickly,” Cavalli added. “I’d like the construction site to be running at full capacity when the Swiss section opens as planned, in a few weeks. Then, we’ll be able to give the date of the end of work, and some certainty to the people,” Cavalli concluded.

However, although the go ahead from CIPE is essential, it does not alone resolve the situation.

Now, other authorisations, and especially the agreement among the companies, are needed, and the mayors of the councils involved are still very worried.
