Cat saved, thanks to tree climbers. And to VareseNews
The cat that was unable to get down from a large tree in Castronno was brought to safety by a tree climber. His new owner has called him “Pino”.
“Pino” has made it. The cat that took refuge in a tree in Castronno, but was unable to get down, has been saved. Three tree climbers, experts in trimming and looking after tall trees, had to intervene. In the afternoon of yesterday, Tuesday 22 February, one of them, Francesco Minelli, climbed up to a height of 10 m, followed the cat, which did not want to be caught, and, in the end, brought him to the ground. And this was all thanks to an article-appeal published by VareseNews, on the request of Parma Panico, the young woman who lives in Via Videtti, opposite the tree (a tall pine), where the cat had taken refuge. “We’ve called him Pino (pine, ed.),” she explained. “He had been crying for three days and nights, because he couldn’t get down. Now he’s safe and sound at home, and the vet’s going to have a look at him tomorrow. He’s had something to eat and to drink. He’s a bit wild, but gentle. I’m going to keep him.”
Over 40 comments were received by VareseNews, to help the young woman and the cat: some people suggested calling the fire brigade, others, the civil defence service, others suggested cutting the tree down, and others (rather insensitively), leaving him alone, because there are far more important and serious matters. The tree climbers also read the appeal on VareseNews; they contacted the newspaper and then the author of the appeal, and quickly intervened. “My thanks go to them, to VareseNews and to everyone that got involved. The tree climbers were fantastic. And Pino, a lovely white and ginger cat, has found a home.
