Va sul palco, the national competition for emerging bands is coming back

Young musicians throughout Italy, pick up your instruments and microphones. Va sul Palco, the national competition for emerging bands, is coming back. It is organised by Informagiovani, in collaboration with the Social Cooperative, NATURArt, the record company, Ghost Records, the Musical Training Centre in Barasso (near Varese), the social cooperative, Mondovisione, in Cantù (near Como), and the booking agency, La Frequenza.

What is it? Va sul palco is a competition for young bands, whose members must be aged between 16 and 35 (born between 1 January 1977 and 31 December 1997), who live in Italy, and who are trying to enter the Italian music world. It is organised as part of the project “Notturno Giovani”. The competitors will have the chance to perform live, to music specialists and professional Italian recording artists.

How does it work? The competition will take place in the main live concert venues in Varese Province, starting from April 2013. The dates of the elimination evenings will be established by the organisation, which, as far as possible, will try to satisfy the needs of selected bands.

THE JURIES

On each of the elimination evenings, 3 bands will perform, and they will be judged by a technical jury, a jury of young people and by a people’s jury.

The technical jury will consist of experts in the music world.

The jury of young people will consist of young men and women, who have been contacted by the service for young people, Informagiovani e Politiche Giovanili, of Varese town council, and by the social cooperative, NATURArt.

The people’s jury will consist of the audience present on the evening.

The contest will take place over five evenings. On each of the first four evenings, 3 groups will perform, and on the final evening, only three groups will perform, and will compete for the prize of the technical jury.

THE PRIZES

Prize of the technical jury: production and publication of one CD, with promotion;

Prize of the jury of young people: national mini-tour and/or a chance to have an international concert.

Prize of the people’s jury: a coupon of €250.00 for music equipment, and a live performance at the Gasch Festival in Gazzada Schianno (VA), which will take place in July 2013 (https://www.facebook.com/gasch.musicfestival.3), which, in the past, has led to some emerging bands opening for such artists Dente, Lo Stato Sociale, etc.

How do you enter? By 15 March 2013, you should send the application form together with the following: an application to take part in the competition, duly filled out (a scan of the original , if sent by e-mail); a copy of the demo-CD, with at least 3 tracks, in the case of sending by mail, or with the 3 tracks necessary for the selection (in MP3 format, the link where the tracks can be listened to, such as Bandcamp, SoundCloud, MediaFire, etc.) in the case of sending by e-mail; biographical information of the artist or band; at least one photo of the artist or band.
