Do you speak English, Mr Sannino?

The ex-coach of Varese is about to sign with Watford, a team, owned by the Pozzo Family, that play in the English Championship League.

While Devis Mangia has just found a place on the bench of La Spezia, another ex-coach of Varese is getting ready to fly across the English Channel. Giuseppe Sannino is about to become the coach of Watford FC, a team based in the town north of London, that plays in the Championship League, the English Second Division.

Watford, which for many years was owned by the singer Elton John, is now “Italian”, as it belongs to the Pozzo Family (who also own the Italian team Udinese), and has been without a coach since Gianfranco Zola’s resignation a few hours ago. The first gossip concerning Sannino’s engagement came from ET, the international insert of the newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, and then the coach himself gave an interview to Radio Sportiva, in which he confirmed the negotiations. His words have also appeared in the British press, who are curious to discover who Zola’s successor will be. If he is engaged, he will find a number of Italian players on his team (Cassetti, Fabbrini, Angella, among others) and a goalkeeper with a great past, the Spaniard, Almunia.

At the moment, Sannino is without a job, after his dismissal from Chievo, despite the draw with AC Milan. For the coach who was born in Ottaviano and who grew up in Turin, but who literally burst onto the scene in Varese, with the team of Varese, this will be the first experience abroad. And who knows whether his motto “Fun Cool” will be fully understood, north of London.
