Arcisate-Stabio, ribbon cutting the 17th of December 2017?
The daily newspapers of the Canton of Ticino are anticipating the date, but the mayors of the Valceresio area, affected by the new railway line have not received any official communication from the Ministry.
This morning, the daily newspapers published the news, taken from the website of the CSR, that the Minister of Transports Graziano Delrio would have set the date for the inauguration of the Arcisate-Stabio railway line.
As we can see on the website, “The ribbon cutting will take place on December 17th in 2017. It was the Italian Minister of Infrastructures Graziano Delrio that announced the date to the mayors of the municipalities concerned”.
News that has not reached the mayors of the Valceresio area, however.
“Nothing official came from the ministry at all this morning. Moreover, frankly, it seems risky to fix with accuracy the date of this inauguration more than a year before with works still in progress. It is true that works are proceeding quickly and that the time schedule is been observed. Then, there are the prerequisites for the conclusion of the works in December next year, but we have not talked about dates with the Ministry and with the RFI,” says the mayor of Arcisate Angelo Pierobon.
Even Gunnar Vincenzi, mayor of Cantello as well as president of the Province of Varese, has not received any official communication yet. He says, “No, nothing concerning this date has been communicated, but the works are progressing and in the almost monthly checks with RFI, with Salcef, the company working on it, and with the local contacts, I can say that the time schedule is respected and therefore the inauguration in December 2017 is very believable. However, there’s nothing official”.
One possible explanation for this date is given by the mayor of Induno Olona, Marco Cavallin.
“No, we have no official communication for this date,” says Cavallin “But I remember that two years ago, at a meeting in Rome at the Ministry of Transports, it was assumed on the third Sunday of the month of December 2017 for the inauguration of the new railway line”.
Third Sunday that next year will fall precisely on December 17. A believable date, then, but still not made official by the Ministry of Transport.
