Lorenzo and his Vespa are 400 km from Istanbul
The 23-year-old left Varese last May and he is now reaching his destination, after a journey full of adventures. He is only turning the corner and then he has to go back home
Lorenzo Triacca is 400 km from the destination. He left from Varese last May for Turkey and he is now close to reaching Istanbul. If you followed him on his blog, you should already know about the thousand adventures he experienced, but we wanted to ask something more to him and so we contacted him:
LORENZO’S BLOG
Hi Lorenzo! Where are you now? How many kilometres are there to go?
“I’m in Nessebar, on the Black Sea Bulgarian coast. I’ll keep on going down along the coast, but I’ll only stop off once more before heading for the Turkey border. To Istanbul there are less than 400 km to go. From Istanbul, there should be about 2000 km before arriving back in Italy again.”
Are you ahead of the schedule you planned?
“Actually, I didn’t have a schedule, but an idea with the most interesting places to visit, but there’s nothing better than find out the way day by day, also thanks to local people’s precious advice.”
Which is the most beautiful experience you’ve had up to now?
“I believe the greatest experience has been making my Vespa start again after a big problem. It was invaluable seeing how helpful people were.”
Which has been the hardest one?
“Obviously the hardest one has been when my Vespa stopped. In the beginning I thought ‘there, it’s already over’ but then I immediately did my best and I managed to work it out. Paradoxically, I lived my best emotions during the worst moment.”
Have you met interesting people?
“I met many people, everybody interesting. They all have a story to tell, other travellers talk about their experiences and local people tell about their territory with glory. I don’t know which one to choose in particular, at least not now.”
What are you learning during your journey?
“I’m learning a lot. Most of all respect and gratitude (I already knew them) towards those humble and simple people, ready for anything in order to help you. Maybe it also depends on the fact that I’m not only a tourist, but I’m on a journey. They look at me with different eyes.”
