There is a baby DJ at the mixer

They have thirty-six years of difference, but the same passion for dance music. They both love “playing “ with discs and “mixing” the rhythms of famous DJs. Jacopo Della Pace and Maurizio Perra met in the course organised by Casa del Disco in Piazza Podestà in Varese; the first one is thirteen years old, lives in Osmate and attends the first class at the junior secondary school in Travedona. The second one is a 48-year-old worker who lives in Caravate. But they both were attracted by the DJ course of Massimiliano Mastermax Malnati and approached records with the same passion and the same curiosity. Nothing strange. The lessons organised by the shop have been stormed within three months by people of every age; there were 16-year-old teenagers who love disco music and 40-year-old husbands who have always dreamt of learning to “mix”.

Actually, as Maurizio told us: “I’ve always been a lover of music, above all, of the 80s. I ‘mixed’ alone for passion and when I saw this course, I decided to sign up for it. I understood that I got many things wrong and with Max I learnt the technique and how I should use records. I never go to the disco, But I like scratching and I’ll do it for parties among friends.” Whereas it seems that Jacopo (photo at the side with Massimiliano Malnati) has a innate passion, because his father is a lover of this sector and a collector of records and he loves dancing and running wild with tectonic videos. He decided alone to attend this course: “I like music and DJs are my passion. In the beginning, I was scared, but when I got used to the atmosphere I went on without problems. Massimiliano let me see how the tools work, taught me to mix and to get the song timing. Now, I’ve ordered my mixer and speakers, so I can keep on playing at home and then I’ll sign up for the advanced course.” Some days ago, he finished the basic course and received his first certificate, while at this moment he is preparing to come back in front of the console for the party organised in Caffè Biffi, by Casa del Disco.

All the of people enroled in the course will be the protagonists of a DJ set and Jacopo is one of the most-awaited for guests. “I’m preparing myself psychologically,” the very young DJ explained. “There will be a lot of people, friends and relatives, and I’m very excited.” In the meantime, Jacopo’s father revealed to us that now he is obliged to live with earphones at his home: “I have to isolate myself, because my son listens to music all day. Many years ago, I enjoyed discs and mixers too, but Jacopo discovered it only after signing up for this course, it was a passion that has come from him.” The courses at Casa del Disco continue to search for small or big talents of dance music.
