“The Court of Auditors has confirmed the hole”

The political war on the hole in the budget seems to have been won by the centre-left, although in reality it is a zero-sum conflict in which everyone loses: the old and new administrators, citizens and employees. However, the news is that the president of the province, Gunnar Vincenzi, has announced that the Court of Auditors has given reason, and that it is certified with an official statement that the junta Galli left a hole in the budget. The former president in March gave a version of events that are different to Vincenzi’s.

“The hole is there,” confirms the new president, “and it is 50 million euro. The Court of Auditors with the resolution no. 223/2015/PRSP has confirmed the findings of the auditor’s report in March and shown by President Gunnar Vincenzi to the Assembly of Mayors and the press. 50 million euros are missing from the budgets for 2012 and 2013.

The Court has carefully examined the documents sent to it by the Province and the Board of Auditors. There was no reason to be included in the budget the 28 million euro of residual assets stationed from 2012 and there lacks a provision of 22 million euro for the spending review.”

According to the President this certified “hole” of 50 million euro is likely to heavily affect the financial balance of the Province and has nothing to do with the Reformation Delrio, which is due to other critical issues for all of the Italian provinces.

“This situation affects only the province of Varese because of the choices of those who came before us to guide Villa Recalcati,” said the President Vincenzi, “and the Court gives us reason. I will give a report of the provisions of the Audit Court next Monday during the Provincial Council. Soon after, I will convene the Assembly of my fellow mayors to deal with them together this serious situation. The choices of those who preceded us now put at great risk the provision of services for municipalities and citizens. Now it is time to implement all possible measures to prevent the financial collapse, protecting the body and its employees,” says the president, “that’s what it’s up to us. Ascertaining instead any personal liability of this serious state of the accounts is up to the competent court, which has already acquired the documents concerning the financial statements of the Province of Varese 2012 and 2013.”
