From Varese to Varallo: fund-raising for “Sacri Monti” itinerary

Varese town hall, together with the “Varese Europea” association as leader and responsible for the plan, have gained a national prominent position, obtaining an important grant loan from the Ministry of Culture (Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities – Italy) and from the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies (Italy) according to the law n. 77/2006, which finances Unesco sites activities. This morning, town councillors Sergio Ghiringhelli and Maria Ida Piazza, “Varese Europea” director Arturo Bortoluzzi, the planner Sandro Pignataro have presented the guidelines of the plan.
The project, financed with 135 thousand euros, is called “Nutrendo anima e corpo” and it’s aim is to enhance Lombardy and Piedmont “Sacri Monti” serial sites through the census and the promotion of its characteristic wines and food.
Town councillor Sergio Girnighelli explains: “It’s an excellent result, which means we’re working beyond controversies and criticism. It is a project with a minimum cost for the administration, since 90% of the total amount is financed. The attention is utmost on Unesco sites. We are working very hard with the Province also for “Isolino Virginia” (Lake Varese): we’ll present an important project between May and June.”
Project contents: The project consists in establishing a stable relation between the Varese province, Lombardy Region and Piedmont Region. The principal results of the project, which will last two years, will be: coordinated events between the “Sacri Monti”; common participation in three international exhibitions (Milan, Paris and Berlin); realisation of a coordinated incoming tourist project; organisation in Biella of an European workshop about “green tourism” among biodiversity, wine and food and territory; study, planning and presentation of other financing requests; study and exploitation of religious orders’ wine and food abilities and traditions.
Director Bertoluzzi and Sandro Pignataro explain: “The success in this notice shows the Association’s creativity ability and it must spur everyone associated to increase their creativity ability. They will know that “Varese Europea” not only helps them to create a winning project, but also and moreover they will be able to interweave relationships able to enrich, stimulate and help growth.” “Varese Europea” was among the three winning bodies, which got exactly what was required, that means the 90% of the admissible costs, equal to 135,000 out of 150,000 euros.

The association specifies: “During the next months, we’ll carry out all the bureaucratic operations necessary for starting, which will prelude the operative presentation. This project places Varese at the top of the planning on Unesco sites, among important places like Rome, Florence, Naples, Venice, legitimately projecting it on one of the strong themes of EXPO 2015.”
