Row after evening with Tyson, Varese youth injured

Three people were injured, one very seriously, in the row that occurred this morning, shortly before 5 a.m., outside the discotheque “Vanilla Club”, in Riazzino, in the Canton Ticino, Switzerland. A few hours beforehand, the famous boxing champion, Mike Tyson, had been a guest in the same club. However, the row, which ended with the knifing, ruined the evening. What exactly happened still has to be made clear; according to the initial information, a group of youths outside the doors of the club were involved in the brawl, and three of them were hurt, a 30-year old from Varese province, and two Swiss men, a 20-year-old from near Bellinzona and a 22-year-old from near Locarno. The Ticino emergency services arrived immediately, with Salva and Green Cross ambulances from Bellinzona, and a Rega helicopter, which urgently transported the 22-year-old to the Lugano Hospital, where he is in a life-threatening condition. The young man from near Varese is also in a serious condition, after he suffered several injuries in the brawl. An investigation has begun, and the police are trying to reconstruct events, to establish responsibilities and the people involved. The managers of the club made a comment about the episode a few hours later. “The management of Vanilla Club regret and dissociate themselves from what happened on Sunday morning at the exit of the club. Efforts to ensure the safety of the World Champion Mike Tyson were made futile by the appalling behaviour of some pseudo clients. It’s inconceivable that a unique event for the whole of the Canton Ticino and for the whole of Switzerland should be spoilt in this way. Thanks to the quick intervention of the club’s security, the perpetrator of this crazy act was immediately disarmed, captured and delivered to the appropriate authorities. In no way does Vanilla Club want its name to be associated with such individuals, who, with their deeds, ruined a party for the whole region.
